Safran Seats had been consulting on the cuts since April and showed that it had cut 20% of its workforce in Torfaen.
The company said 68 had been fired and another 87 were on voluntary redundancy, for a total of 155.
French company Safran Seats GB in the past hired another 1,200 people across the UK.
In addition to Cwmbran, the company operates in Newport, Brackley in Northamptonshire and Camberley in Surrey.
The corporation stated that the 68 layoffs were caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesman added, “We have implemented wellness and fitness facilities for workers through our worker assistance program, as well as provided relocation with an out-of-house company to colleagues for up to 3 months.”
