The old Huddersfield Sports Centre can be a car park for 3 years

Kirklees City Council appears to be in a position to approve its own planning request for transit parking at the former Southgate Sports Center site in Huddersfield.

The programme, which is scheduled to be signed on Wednesday, will be “no more than 3 years.”

The 166-seat site replaces partly the 588-seat Market Hall multi-story car park on Alfred Street, which closed in February.

After first saying that he was assessing damage to the building, the council revealed in July that the site would be demolished as part of the Huddersfield Blueprint project.

Officers specified what it would be replaced with.

The new 24-hour transit car park at the 1.5-acre Southgate charges 230,000 euros to create it. It will be available via traffic from Old Leeds Road.

It is expected to provide parking on adjustment day for football and rugby occasions at John Smith Stadium.

The council intends to expand the domain component with wild trees and flowers to create “prairie-style meadows”. The panels around the domain will be replaced via a 2 m top steel mesh fence.

A report submitted to the council’s strategic plans committee (August 26) states that the new car park is reserved for short-term buyers and long-term car parks “displaced by the closure of the Market Hall car park.”

It will allow up to five hours of parking or availability per day. Parking will not be allowed for personal non-residential or personal residential purposes.

Cars and large coaches will be prevented from entering a height barrier.

The Old Leeds Road car park will open at the end of June.

Users will pay $2.50 for five hours and 3 for staying more than five hours on Monday.

On Sundays, it will be 1 in accordance with the visit.
