The Nissan Formula E Team will bring a touch of samba to the São Paulo E-Prix

The Nissan Formula E Team is ready for the 2023/2 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Round as the series heads to South America for the second edition of the São Paulo E-Prix.

The team will build on a positive performance last time out at Diriyah, where Oliver Rowland took pole and third in the third moto, and Sacha Fenestraz scored big points in sixth.

After a seven-week break, the two drivers had the opportunity to reflect on the initial Season 10 exchanges and worked with the team to prepare for the trip to São Paulo.

A city obsessed with motorsport, this weekend’s race will take place in the Santana neighborhood, with the Anhembi Sambadrome, home of the famous São Paulo Carnival, as the main straight.

The 2. 93-kilometre track has 11 corners, with 3 long straights leading to spaces of heavy braking at Turns 1, 4 and 7, giving drivers plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Nissan has a presence in Brazil, having opened a production plant in 2014 in the Resende shopping complex in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Nissan recently pledged significant additional investments to supply new aircraft for the production of two new SUVs and the installation of a complex turbo engine at the complex. The 2023-2025 investment plan is part of the strategy to achieve the goals set out in Nissan’s Ambition 2030 vision. .

Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of Nissan Formula E, said: “It was vital to resolve a lot of issues at Diriyah to start our season and stay on track to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.

“It was the best moment because we were able to face this break with a positive mindset and keep racing to improve. We were able to adjust some points that we didn’t maximize before and had the opportunity to expand as a team.

“The track in São Paulo is bumpy and it will probably be hot, so we will have to manage those situations and improve our performance. But overall, we’re back on the road with confidence, although we’re keeping our caution and we’re in a position to keep racing. “difficult to face the demanding situations that lie ahead.

Rider Sacha Fenestraz said: “It’s a great race for me, the closest occasion to home in Argentina, so I’m really excited to race in São Paulo. We’ve been running in the background since Diriyah.

“It’s been a long break, but we’re in a position to face a very busy few months. “

His compatriot Oliver Rowland said: “The team is feeling positive after pole and podium in Diriyah. Performing well in both one-lap speed and race set-up is a smart sign for us. “

“This weekend we only have one event, so we want to make sure we’re at the most sensitive point in our game right away, because we don’t have a second day to make improvements. The awakening will be for energy management, so we want to put it strategically well to use and execute our plan as productively as possible.
