Even Lamborghini has to go electric, which is why the Italian supercar maker’s updated Urus SUV now comes with plug-in hybrid power for the first time.
Unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show this week, the so-called Super SUV is called the Urus SE and combines an existing 4. 0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a single motor and a 25. 9 kWh battery.
Lamborghini said the V8 engine has been “redesigned to work in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain. “It produces 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, while the electric motor, inside the car’s eight-speed automatic transmission, sends an additional 189 pound-feet. horsepower and 356 pound-feet to the all-wheel-drive system.
The result is a total output of 789 hp (more than 133 hp in the Urus S and Urus Performante) and 701 lb-ft of torque. Remember, you can’t just load the engine and engine overalls, because they are. They are not configured to deliver their maximum results at the same time.
Regardless, Lamborghini said the Urus SE can accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3. 4 seconds (one-tenth faster than the non-hybrid Urus S, but only the Performante) and 0-124 mph (200 km/h). in 11. 2 seconds, beating the S by 1. 3 seconds. The most sensible speed is 300 km/h, five km/h faster than the Urus S.
All of this, Lambo said, makes the SE the toughest Urus ever made and also the fastest production car in its segment. While the non-hybrid Aston Martin DBX 707 reaches a hundred km/h, a tenth faster, in 3. 3 seconds, its responsive top speed of three hundred km/h is a fraction of that of the Lamborghini.
Lamborghini’s hybrid formula is similar to that introduced by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which is not surprising, given that both companies are part of the VW Group, and both cars use the same battery.
While the electric formula makes the Urus SE faster, faster and more powerful, it also allows the car to run like a natural electric vehicle for up to 40 miles at full speed and up to 80 mph. If you have an evaluator at home and a fairly short commute, you may find that the Urus SE will be used as an electric vehicle for much of your daily tasks.
Inside, the Lambo SUV has a new giant 12. 3-inch infotainment touchscreen, as well as an equally giant virtual tool cluster on the steering wheel. The central display incorporates a new telemetry formula for the SE, which gives access to the vehicle’s driver assistance formulas. The user interface has been updated with new graphics similar to those of Lamborghini’s hybrid supercar Revuelto.
It stores its 25. 9 kWh battery with the related Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
On the outside we found a set of new 23-inch wheels called Galanthus and equipped with Pirelli P Zero tires. Other wheel sizes come with 21 and 22 inches. The diversity of external paint colors has been expanded, with more than a hundred frame features now available, adding the two new launch shades, called Arancio Apodis (odiversity) and Biano Sapphirus (white). There are 47 color combinations for the interior and 4 types of embroidery.
