A “new” engine will be introduced in the Mazda3 sedan by 2021. Obviously, the manufacturer has dusted off its old 2.0-litre skyactive-G four-cylinder engine, which will serve as the basis for this relatively small machine. This will be a notch below the now mid-range four-cylinder and 2.5-liter and two rungs on the newly announced 2.5-litre turbo ladder.
Drivers can expect 155 horsepower from this entry-level engine and 150 lb/ft of torque, the same numbers as the company’s 2.0-liter powertrain on the latest generation Mazda3. All this vertigo is directed to the front wheels of the car, probably a six-speed automatic transmission.

Just to recap, this car’s midrange 2.5-liter four-cylinder is rated at 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. As for the range-topping powertrain, which is shared with larger Mazda models including the CX-9 crossover, it also displaces 2.5-liters, but a turbocharger huffs air into its quartet of lungs, helping deliver a potent 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque when running on premium fuel. Because of that mountain of twist, it will be paired exclusively with all-wheel drive in the 2021 Mazda3. Both of these up-level engines are available in either sedan or hatchback models.
The standard 2021 device includes parts such as 16-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers and a matte grille. Inside, locate an 8.8-inch infotainment screen and two USB ports to keep your cellular devices fully functional. Mazda’s i-Activsense protection and convenience feature set is also included at no additional cost. This includes items such as adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, automatic traffic lighting accessories and more.
The 2021 Mazda3 is expected to go on sale in the United States later this year. Naturally, values have not yet been announced, however, the 2020 sedan style starts at less than $23,000, adding target fares, which is a little richer than some of its rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. It is quite imaginable that the new fundamental engine diminishes the value of an skosh car, thus expanding its appeal.
