The former factory of a major car brand in the UK has finally been demolished.
Honda’s car plant in Swindon stopped production in July 2021 and around 3,500 people were out of work.
Demolition work at the site of the former South Marston airfield began on March 4.

It is being developed through Panattoni after plans were approved in January, according to The Swindon Advertiser.
The commission will include the structure of 11 buildings on a 370-acre site, production sites or warehouses.
The £700 million refurbishment was carried out after 22 months, 893 documents and at least two planning committee meetings.
“The progression will bring £295 million worth a year, or £1. 2 billion in the first decade, to the local economy,” said James Watson, Panattoni’s director of progression.
This comes after a car dealership announced the closure of 16 plazas and the elimination of numerous jobs.
The blow to CarStore sites, which were previously owned by Pendragon, comes just months after the company was bought through U. S. company Lithia.
In a statement, the company, which also runs Evans Halshaw and Stratstone, said the decision was made to focus on the other two industry giants.
The news left 250 workers with the hard truth that they had been laid off.
While 16 outlets will be closed, 4 CarStore sites will be retained and re-franchised.
Meanwhile, seven CarStore modules will be at Evans Halshaw Direct locations.
Lithia bosses said: “The company is going to cut around 250 jobs across the UK.
“The vast majority of the losses will come from the closure of 16 CarStore locations, adding seven warehouse-sized showrooms, which are expected to reduce the burden of promoting used models through economies of scale. “
