The Lucid Air electric car was independently tested with an estimated EPA diversity of 517 miles on a singles load. This diversity appears to be 175 or 205 kWh of two battery packs for an extended diversity vehicle that costs more than $100,000.
The Tesla Model S has a diversity of just over 400 miles. North American Model S Long Range Plus cars have an official diversity of 402 miles, assessed through the EPA. This is a nearly 20% increase in battery life compared to a 100D S style of 2019 with the same battery design. The Model S Long Range Plus costs $74,990. Use a hundred kWh battery.
Lucid Motors uses Samsung SDI lithium-ion battery cells as Air’s main engine. The fundamental Lucid Air will be supplied with a 75 kWh rear-wheel drive battery and will have a 240-mile (386 km) diversity. A momentary battery with a capacity of one hundred kWh or 130 kWh can also be supplied with all-wheel drive.
They use an internal transmission. Lucid has miniaturized and incorporated the Air’s motors, transmission and inverter, and combined them with an ultra-high architecture of 900 volts or more for unmatched compactness and efficiency.
Its generation division, Atieva, has been obtaining batteries for the entire field of the Formula E Racing Series since 2018, and will continue to obtain those packages until 2022.
In 2018, Lucid Motors reached a $1 billion investment agreement with Saudi Arabia to finance air production, which is expected to begin in 2020 after the structure of its plant in Casa Grande, Arizona.
Lucid aims to increase power to five miles consistent with kilowatt hours instead of an average of 3 miles consistent with kilowatt hours. Battery costs are expected to fall to $100 in line with kWh over the next decade, in line with allowing Lucid to produce a luxury electric vehicle for less than $30,000.
