The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra postpones the season, puts musicians on leave and staff to the max

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has made the “heartbreaking decision” to postpone the start of its 2020-2021 season until February 2021 and abandon all of its 80 musicians and the maximum due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, said Rachel Ford, executive director.KSO..

On Monday, he said that control of the orchestra and board of administrators took the resolution after weeks of reviewing public aptitude guidelines, responses to KSO user surveys, and more productive practices in the entertainment industry.

“Continuing our current prices and, in particular, cutting our income is not financially feasible,” Ford said.”This resolution will allow the KSO in the long term and will not allow a pandemic to wipe out the oldest orchestra in our region.”

Ticket holders can request a refund or give the price of their tickets to the orchestra. You can obtain a price ticket assistance form at knoxvillesymphony.com, or obtain assistance directly by emailing [email protected].
