MANHATTAN, N. Y. (WABC) — Buckle up, car enthusiasts! The New York International Auto Show is just a few days away.

Kemberly Richardson, a reporter for Eyewitness News, got a glimpse of what to expect behind the scenes of this year’s exhibit at Manhattan’s Javits Center.

The best way to start your day is to visit the obstacle course at Camp Jeep with driver Lauren Frisby.

“We’ve been given two new obstacles for this year, this one is called Crevasse, which is modeled after one of the trails in Moab, a well-known trail,” Frisby said.

It is one of the four tracks of the legendary New York Auto Show, the first and largest event of its kind.

Nearly 1,000 cars now fill the Javits Center for what is a comprehensive and impressive overhaul of the burgeoning industry.

“Yes, it’s about performance, yes, it’s about design, it’s about comfort, it’s all there, but also what they put into those vehicles, it’s extraordinary,” said Mark Schienberg, president of the New York New York Times. Car show.

Join Eyewitness News meteorologists Lee Goldberg and Brittany Bell and sportscaster Ryan Field for a sneak peek at the New York International Auto Show in our special, In the Fast Lane, on Saturday, March 30 at 7 p. m.

Some of the beauties belong to Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. His mother’s 1969 Mercedes is on display.

The six classics have been changed and are now environmentally friendly and belong to a national competition.

Last year, people spent an average of five and a half hours watching the show.

“Basically, 70 percent of people have what we call 12-month intentions, so they’re in this funnel that says, ‘Okay, I’m in a position to take a look at my next car,'” Schienberg said.

A new trend is so-called “infotainment” systems.

“If you look at the dashboard, where there were some dials, now it does everything for you,” Schienberg said.

The Infinity QX80 is supplied with biometric sensors. It can happen if you get too hot and adjust the temperature.

The exhibit opens to the public on Friday.
