The Jaguar Nation represents rigor, relevance and relationships.

Thomas Jefferson Middle School has been a well-known landmark in the city of Indio since 1948. Once known as Jefferson Jaharas, we are now proud to be the home of the Jaguars! For Jefferson students and the community, it’s about RIGUEUR, RELEVANCE and RELATIONSHIP.

TJMS has been identified as an AVID difference site (advancement through individual determination). With one hundred percent of our teachers trained through AVID, our school-wide initiative is to announce a school-wide and career-ready orientation as academics move toward their educational goals. Our students are evaluated annually for PSAT to raise awareness of the expectations of SAT/ACT exams required by many schools and universities. In addition, our AVID team offers a summer program to our students that highlights scientific, mathematical and AVID methods and skills for educational rigor. This year’s program will be virtual for our students.

Our TJMS music program provides music education for beginners, intermediates and complexes. We are proud to have more than one hundred academics interested in this program. The TJMS Concert Band has won the most sensible brands of the Southern California Association of Orchestras and Bands since 2010. Last year, the concert organization won a gold medal at the Forum Music Festival. The music program also plays an active role in the community; to play alongside the Indian High School organization, participate in the DSUSD CAMfest and the annual Masonic birthday party par excellence of education.

Our award-winning CTE (Professional Technical Education) course known as the Academy of Fame (Film, Animation, Media Arts and Entertainment) gives academics the opportunity to learn about fundamental skills in virtual storytelling and the arts of the media with a film, audio, streaming, animation. and graphic design. Students explore artistic expression through a wide variety of projects, collaboration teams and community/industry partnerships.

We are proud to continue our commitment to STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) with a complex robotics, coding and virtual technology program; with a forged clinical program. This year, we celebrate the good fortune of more than 30 student science competition winners who competed at the district and county level.

To expand a network culture and connectivity, Jefferson’s Renaissance Associate Student Body (ASB) program is a student-centered leadership organization that implements student activities and events. The emphasis is on connection and compassion with activities such as “Hello Week”, friendship dances and “Reach Out” lunches. There are also expansion celebrations and educational achievements such as the Honor Roll and Student of the Month, as well as opportunities for families to participate in a circle of family laughs, science nights, Battle Bots, school and professional day, and musical performances. In addition, Jefferson Jaguars is backed by an abundant network of network resources, such as the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE), Ophelia (tutoring), the Anti Bullying Institute (HERO), and Strengthen families.

As we look to the future, our vision is to continue to expand a culture of care and compassion among young people and serve, as they leave their impressions of the Thomas Jefferson Middle School network where what we do counts!
