While there are no official specifications provided by Kia regarding the EV9 GT yet, its styling has been shown off by company executives and is expected to appear next January. Screenshots from a YouTube event in its home market capture a presentation to investors, showing that the electric gross will have “tremendous power” and will be able to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds.
This feat will be due to the high-efficiency dual motors that provide all-wheel drive and, presumably, plenty of traction. It looks like the EV9 GT will be more than just a running EV9 with its 11-bit engine mounted; The chips in the presentation also identify a reinforced suspension and electronic braking system, both of which deserve to support solid driving functionality in intense driving sessions.
MSRP: $59,995 to $78,995
It’s also worth noting that the company plans to “continuously release GT versions for its committed EVs,” suggesting that more hyperactive product variants are in the works. Speaking of the future, a separate component of the presentation promised that the EV3 and EV4 models in attendance will drive mass adoption of the brand’s EVs, showcasing them as “Mass EV” models, with the EV6 and EV9 indexed as flagship models. The positioning of the market is not yet clear.
Other nuggets from the presentation seen with our eagle eyes and a quick tap on YouTube’s pause button come with paper comic strip previews of what could be the next Seltos, a full-size style of a long-term electric vehicle, with the promise of a redesign. Sportage will appear later in 2024, plus some sort of EV6 GT update in the second half of this year. Could it get a boost of strength in reaction to its sibling, the 641-horsepower Hyundai Ioniq five N?see.
