As the Hyundai IONIQ nine nears its official debut, we can finally get a glimpse of what we can expect. Hyundai’s first three-row electric SUV has been spotted in testing, revealing its giant build and sleek design.
Hyundai is already making its presence known in the EV market with its existing IONIQ five and IONIQ 6.
The IONIQ five is already the best distributor in several markets in addition to the United States. Hyundai’s electric SUV was the sixth-best-selling electric vehicle in the U. S. last year, with just about 34,000 models delivered.
Although several competitors are putting the brakes on their EV projects, Hyundai is moving forward. The IONIQ nine logo is expected to be unveiled next June.
Hyundai’s first three-row electric SUV debuted as the SEVEN concept at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, suggesting it would outperform the IONIQ 7. However, a source familiar with the matter recently told Automotive News that Hyundai’s first three-row electric SUV will surpass the IONIQ 9.
While Hyundai has yet to verify the name change, a spokesperson said, “More major points about the upcoming IONIQ style will be shared closer to launch. “

According to the journalist, the IONIQ nine is “more complete” at the front, with a noticeably smaller A-pillar. Hyundai’s electric SUV looked more sloping and less boxy than the EVnine.
Another noticeable difference at the rear. You may see the IONIQ nine tower above the EVnine when you’re parked next to each other.
Like Kia’s EVnine, the IONIQ nine will run on Hyundai’s committed E-GMP platform. The EVnine’s 42. 8-inch rear legroom platform, which is more than the three-row Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes EQS and Range Rover P400.

If a car with this exact profile had sliding doors, it would be a minivan. It will be very useful to see how those prices/specs compare to those of the EV9 and ID Buzz.
The rear is also covered, but the shape of the hood shows that it’s much larger than the IONIQ five (so they possibly decided the IONIQ nine was a better fit).
Hyundai is expected to begin production of the IONIQ nine in the first part of the year, with U. S. sales expected to continue in mid-2025.
The IONIQ nine is expected to be manufactured at Hyundai’s new $7. 6 billion electric vehicle metafactory in Georgia. Hyundai expects factory-produced models to be eligible for the $7,500 EV tax credit, making it even more competitive in its largest market.
