GRAND FORKS – AJ Nagy, manager of Tidal Wave Auto Spa, says a competitive corporate marketing crusade and lack of comparable car washes in town contributed to a top-tier landing.
The Grand Forks store, which opened on Sept. 28, 2022, is number two in terms of expansion in the Tidal Wave region of South Dakota, Minnesota, and North Dakota. The only store that performs better than Grand Forks is in Minneapolis.
“They love us here,” Nagy said. “We have had the highest growth in our region comparatively to most other sites.
“People were looking to see something new. The other two guys have been here for a while, so why not check out the new one?And many other people were satisfied with what we had to offer them.
Simonson’s and Rydell’s are the most similar car washes to Tidal Wave in Grand Forks.
“We’re probably a little more beloved than Rydell and Simonson’s,” Nagy said. “But you can also use your sticker at 230 other locations around the country for other people who travel a lot or just from here to Fargo or Minneapolis. “
Fargo and Minot are the two Tidal Wave locations in North Dakota.
“We’re doing it about twice as much as Fargo,” Nagy said. “You can probably attribute that to the number of car washes they have in that area. Here there are only three other people who do the conveyor belt car wash, who wash the car like we do.
“That probably attributes to the success we have over them.”
Nagy has about 12 employees, most of whom are part-time. It uses the best academics and scholars to run its business.
“Most of my residents have been here from day one or within the first three months of opening,” he said.
One update since the Grand Forks store opened is that brushes are no longer used to prepare paint before washing.
The update was made in October.
“The company is moving forward with renovating most of our retail stores so that they are unprepared,” Nagy said. “We don’t have any pre-brushing, but we spray wash and strain. Bugs are a big problem. We have a new solution with top tension washers.
Once consumers have washed, it’s time for towels, sprayers and vacuum cleaners.
Nagy said the business is already giving back to the community. A charity day event in September raised $2,000 for the Grand Forks Growth and Support Center.
All proceeds from the day were donated to corporate charities.
“They raised a lot of money, too,” Nagy said.
In addition, Tidal Wave simplifies budgeting for schools, churches, civic groups, sports teams, and much more through its fundraising program.
It has simplified the process with two fundraising options: digital and paper. Complete its car wash fundraising form on its website and your group can begin raising funds.
Tidal Wave in Grand Forks washes about two hundred cars per day in the winter and about 400 per day in the summer.
“I love Grand Forks,” he said, Nagy. Me I love summers in this area and I go out to the lake every weekend. “
He says it’s a large town in North Dakota, but “you feel like you know everybody.”
