The Ford Raptor R is not suitable for the Hummer EV (even with assistance) in an endurance race [Video]

In a battle of the beasts, the Ford Raptor R went head to head against the all-electric GMC Hummer EV to see who was fastest. Who do you think came out on top?

Rarely do you see two cars like the Ford Raptor R and the GMC Hummer EV lined up for the race.

According to Ford, the new 2023 F-150 Raptor R is the “fastest and most powerful” Raptor ever built. It develops more than 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque, designed to withstand excessive off-road conditions.

The 2023 Raptor has an optimized engine that is already noticeable in the Mustang Shelby GT5000.

Is it enough to beat the all-electric GMC Hummer EV? The Hummer EV pickup features up to 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. With Watts to Freedom (WTF) available, the Hummer can race from 0-60 mph in around 3 seconds.

That’s impressive, given the electric Hummer weighs 9,640 lbs. That’s over 3,600 lbs more than the Raptor R (5,960 lbs). Powered by three electric motors and a 212 kWh battery, the Hummer pickup EV has some legs.

So, which one would win in a drag race? The team over at Hoonigan put the two head-to-head in a drag race.

Despite some false starts, the Ford Raptor R didn’t stand a chance against the tough Hummer EV.

Since the Hummer was “much faster,” the team gave the Raptor R a pickup truck-equivalent advantage. Even with the help, the electric Hummer topped at least one other truck length.

Cool, the truck with street suspension and a 400hp advantage is faster in a straight line. Now let’s see the Hummer try and keep up doing literally anything offroad. Would have been vastly more entertaining and potentially interesting on the offroad drag strip Hoonigan uses.

The Raptor had a three-truck lead in the final round. The Raptor R only won for the duration of the car, and that’s because the Hummer EV reached a top speed of 106 mph and the Ford went up to 112 mph.

While the 2023 Raptor R is the fastest and toughest Raptor yet, it fell short of the all-electric GMC Hummer EV.

Maybe it’s time for Ford to launch an electric Raptor. Then it would possibly be to stick with the mighty Hummer EV.

Ford is adding a new “Flash” version to its 2024 Lightning lineup with a diversity of 320 miles. The new edition includes a tech-rich interior, a heat pump and more for $69,995. Ford’s Flash will hit the “sweet spot” by getting the popular features of the XLT and Lariat models at the right price.
