The first Aston Martin DBX SUV has left the line at the car manufacturer’s new Warwickshire plant in Wales.
The production milestone came four years after Aston Martin announced his investment in a new logo production facility at St Athan.
The DBX is the culmination of an extensive progression programme that began with a virtual progression dating back to 2015 and physical testing in Wales in 2018.
Aston Martin hopes the all-wheel drive DBX will allow the company to expand its presence in markets where weather or terrain is less conducive to rear-wheel drive sports cars. The spacious and sumptuous interior will also allow Aston Martin to succeed among consumers who prefer to drive than drive.
Keith Stanton, Acting Chief Operating Officer of Aston Martin, said: “It’s a real privilege to be here to witness the finishing touch of Aston Martin’s first DBX series.
“I’m incredibly proud of the Aston Martin team who worked so hard for this former Ministry of Defense site at a world-class car production facility, to now produce cars, is a testament to everyone’s endurance and courage. At Aston Martin.
“It’s an honor to see the first DBX come out and my only regret is that not everyone who works for this logo can be here to witness it.”
Aston Martin says it expects around 80% of all DBXs made to be sold in overseas markets.
Marek Reichman, executive vice president and director of Aston Martin, said, “We are incredibly proud of our first SUV, which is as Aston Martin as any of our sports cars.”
“From my design team to the engineers, the vehicle dynamics team and all the experts who make this beautiful car here at St Athan, the DBX has the car that will take Aston Martin into an ambitious new era.”

“The DBX is an exceptional vehicle for one of the world’s most sumptuous car brands, and will be at the heart of the expansion plan and ambitions for the future of this iconic company.
“I couldn’t be more proud to see this SUV manufactured in Wales and off the production line. It says a lot about the determination and skills of the world-class workforce we have here in Wales.”
The first deliveries of DBX to consumers begin e late this month.
