GMC unveiled the Hummer EV pickup truck to its face in 2021 and is preparing to start promoting it as an SUV pair in 2023. Meanwhile, a third electric vehicle joins the Hummer family: an electric bicycle.
The GMC Hummer EV all-wheel-drive electric motorcycle will go on sale in December, according to Recon Power Bikes, which GMC used to build the motorcycle. And that’s as exaggerated as the quirky, beloved van it’s based on.
Like the Hummer EV, the electric motorcycle will be supplied with all-wheel drive via two electric motors, one driving the front wheel and one driving the rear. With giant studded tires, the electric motorcycle is designed to thrive off-road. Road trails, just like its much, much more giant brother.
There are 3 driving modes from. Cruise only activates rear-wheel drive to maximize diversity and efficiency. Traction uses front-wheel drive to better navigate soft rocks and slippery surfaces, explains Recon Power Bikes. Adrenaline takes credit for either engine for maximum functionality on steep terrain.
Recon boasts a top speed of over 28 mph.
Pricing starts at $3,999 and the bike will be sold online and at GMC dealers. The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, the first electric Hummer on the market, is priced at $108,700.
Car logos have long been interested in micromobility, placing their logo names on motorcycles produced through other companies.
EV startup Rivian, which sells an SUV that rivals the Hummer, has hinted that it will enter the electric motorcycle game.
Rivian CEO and founder RJ Scaringe told TechCrunch in October that he was “very excited” about the electric motorcycle space. The company also introduced a trademark for electric motorcycles in January.
