‘The car part in my kids’ room’: Car crashes into Saskatoon apartment building

Firefighters responded to the scene Friday morning in the 300 block of Herold Road after a car collided with an apartment building.

After arriving at the venue around 11:27 a. m. m. , crews observed the vehicle halfway through the construction site near the stairwell, firefighters said in a statement.

Crews helped the driver exit the vehicle toward the ambulance before ordering a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the building.

Firefighters said a search showed all occupants of the structure had been safely evacuated.

Walid Khalid, a newcomer to Canada, was sleeping in his apartment when he woke up to a loud bang.

Then she learned that a car had crashed into the main façade and partially entered her children’s room.

“Five feet to the right and that would have been me,” Khalid said. “Thank God no one was hurt, but yes, it’s a very traumatic experience. “

Khalid expressed his fear about the lack of adequate protective measures to prevent such an accident.

“There are a lot of other people coming in and out. . . It’s a very busy car park. I think they put anything here.
