The original BMW 1 Series sedan was a pleasure. It was a BMW rear-wheel drive sedan with a six-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Is life really bigger than that? The most productive variant of this first hatch was the BMW M140i, which arrived with the brand’s brilliant six-cylinder B58 line and a suitable (or automatic) manual. However, despite its fair recipe, the M140i feels as if it is being held by BMW. Therefore, some enthusiasts have resorted to the configuration to awaken its potential and a UK-based tuning company, Birds, possibly would have done so.

In this new Autoautomobile review, we see the kind of innovations Bird makes compared to the popular BMW M140i and it turns out that each and every M140i owner takes their car to Birds.

So what has replaced Birds in the car? Well, for beginners, engine strength increases to 424 horsepower and 400 pound-feet, which is a very healthy force for a rear-wheel drive car with rear-wheel drive. It also has its own short race gearshift kit for its six-speed manual gearbox, which makes gear shifting much more fun to use. But the Birds setting package is more than just a construction in place. It receives a new suspension geometry, revised springs and new surprise shock absorbers for further handling and also receives a Quaife limited slip differential at the rear, replacing the car’s open differential.

Overall, the Birds, the BMW M140i is as fast as the BMW M2 Competition and, according to Autocar, makes it more fun to drive on the road. Its suspension is more flexible and detaches more predictably. This is an ambitious and, given that you can get an M140i used with the Birds Total Grain Adjustment Kit by much less than the M2 Comp, which is very encouraging for British enthusiasts.
