Audi officially announced Wednesday’s value of its new A7 plug-in hybrid, which will be enrolled for the electrified A8 sedan and Q5 crossover in the company’s lineup this fall. With a starting price of $75,895, adding $995 to the destination, the unattractive A7 55 TFSI E costs $5,700 more than the base value of Audi’s slender Sportback.
That said, it’s worth noting that the plug-in hybrid can only be obtained in the more sensible Premium Plus and Prestige versions of the A7, the latter costing $81245, adding destination. Compare that to the supplied versions of the A7, and plug-in models are only $550 and $1,900 increases, respectively. Not bad. And that’s before you did the federal and local tax incentives.
At the center of the A7 55 TFSI E (seriously, those names!) There is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine with an electric motor housed between the engine and the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The electric motor is forced through a 14.1 kilowatt-hour battery, and Audi claims that the overall strength of the formula is 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. That’s 27 hp more than the popular A7, but a couple.
Of course, the merit of a pluggable hybrid formula is the ability to travel short distances only with electric power. Audi has not yet revealed official knowledge of diversity or fuel consumption, however, previous tests have revealed a diversity of approximately 25 miles throughout the European cycle, so a slight decrease in the number of U.S. cars is expected.
The A7 2021 plug-in hybrid is expected to go on sale this fall, so we have official diversity data at the time. The A7 PHEV is a component of Audi’s quest to electrify one-third of its product line through 2025.
