The Maserati GranTurismo gained a sibling and thus won the festival in the electric convertible market segment.
On Monday, the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore debuted with an electric powertrain, surprisingly good looks and a comfortable soft top. When it arrives in the U. S. in the fourth quarter, it will cost more than $200,000.

The GranCabrio Folgore looks like a GranTurismo Folgore with its cut-out roof. The design tweaks of past styling are subtle, as in the GranTurismo. The GranCabrio Folgore features the same long hood, short rear axle and inflated trims as the coupe. In the coupe, it also features a low ride height over wheels offset by 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear. The narrow oval grille updates the logo’s front finish remedy with the imposing and proud trident badge.
The GranCabriolet’s most responsive comfort can be opened in 14 seconds when driving at speeds of up to 31 mph. It takes 16 seconds to close the most sensitive dresser with a button on the center console. The entire operation can also be triggered with gesture controls by dragging and holding left or right on the touchscreen. When the roof is closed, the trunk can hold 5. 3 cubic feet of stuff, and that drops to 4. 0 cubic feet with the roof down.
Occupants can stay warm or cool while driving with the most sensitive down thanks to popular neck gaiters that blow warm air into those seated in the leather front seats. The airflow can be adjusted and has 3 speeds. A windbreaker will be optional to restrict airflow around the cabin.
The interior goes virtual with a 12. 2-inch virtual gauge cluster paired with a 12. 3-inch infotainment touchscreen, atop an 8. 8-inch screen housing the climate controls. All of this is housed in a leather-lined interior with knurled trim and a clock as speed decoration.

Maserati uses silicon carbide electric motors and evolved inverters for Formula E. Each Folgore GranCabrio is powered by 3 electric motors, one front and two rear, with an output of 300 kW (402 hp). Power is expected to exceed 1,200 hp, although it is actually limited to 760 hp due to inverters.
The motors are powered via a 92. 5 kWh T-shaped battery (83. 0 kWh usable) that is stored in the transmission tunnel and behind the rear seats. All of this runs on an 800-volt electrical architecture capable of recharging the battery from 20 to 80% in 18 minutes. EPA ratings certified, but Maserati expects a run of around 250 miles. The car has a weight distribution of 50:50.
The braking formula doesn’t offer a one-pedal driving mode; The formula can regenerate potency up to 0. 65 g.
The most responsive speed clocks in at 180 mph, down from 199 mph for the GranTurismo Folgore coupe sibling. Maserati cites a 0-100 km/h time of 2. 8 seconds, which is a hair slower than the coupe’s 2. 7 seconds. Four driving modes will be available, adding Max-Range, GT, Sport and Corsa. The Corsa allows drivers to adjust the torque distribution at the rear regardless of traction levels. Everything is virtual as there is no mechanical connection.
With no petrol engine under the bonnet, Maserati synthesizes the sound of the inverter and electric motors and then amplifies them in the cabin.
