The Buick Enclave was the first three-row SUV when it was first introduced in 2008, and it remains the brand’s only vehicle with seating for seven passengers. It returns all-new for 2025, with a new engine that’s more resilient. than the one it replaces and with features that add the first time GM’s Super Cruise Highway hands-free driving assistant is introduced in this brand.
I got a quick look at this all-new Buick on one occasion near Detroit, and while the ride is still to come, we can share the new styling and features, as well as this new engine. This new Enclave will go on sale this summer and will be the last in Buick’s four-vehicle lineup to be refreshed or completely new, along with the Envista (which replaced the Encore), Encore GX and Envision.
On a historic note, the 2025 Enclave will mark 125 years of Buick history, when inventor David Dunbar Buick began experimenting with internal combustion engines in 1900. He had financed his new assignment by promoting his plumbing business, where he had come to expand a focus. of bonding porcelain to iron that finally made our modern bathtubs possible. After some rocky starts, their new corporate build cars; and in 1908 he sold his Buick Motor Car Company to businessman William Durant, where it became the first logo for a new company Durant called General Motors.
As is the case with a basic transformation, this new Enclave is longer, wider, and taller than before. The existing styling has 18-inch wheels on the two lower trims; and 20 inches on the more sensible Avenir. They are now updated with 20-inch and 22-inch wheels, respectively, more beautiful, but also more expensive when it comes time to upgrade winter tires. The redesigned front trim features the same fundamental grille. shape on all trims, but with another mesh design; and the classic circular Buick logo on the grille is updated through the new three-bladed design at the front of the hood.
Speaking of finishes, the 3 existing finishes of the 2024 Enclave are Essence, Premium, and Avenir; and the ST, for Sport Touring, is a package in the bottom two. This time, the base edition is the edition; the ST now has its own edition and sits in the middle; while the Avenir remains the top-of-the-line edition, as is the case with all of Buick’s offerings.
Pricing has not been announced, but the 2024 edition ranges from $53,798 to $64,798. Those numbers are expected to rise, not only because costs are rising each year, but also because some optional parts for 2024, such as a paid suspension. In the Avenir update, it will now be a component of the popular team.
Other styling tweaks in the new style come with new LED heads; new rear shock absorbers spanning the full width of the rear; and, in the Future, a smooth front-facing animation that lights up as you get closer.
The cockpit design looked dated and now benefits from a big improvement, especially in the most sensitive part of the dashboard. The existing Enclave has an eight-inch infotainment screen in the center console, as well as a 4. 2-inch virtual display. Toolbox. The new Enclave integrates two curved screens of less than 30 inches at the top of the dashboard, which will be popular on all three versions. The full contents of the infotainment formula, and the screens of the cars, are still being determined. therefore, they have been disconnected.
That said, Buick has shown that it will be the first Enclave to offer Google Maps and app subscriptions, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While many of the vehicle’s purposes will undoubtedly be built into the touchscreen, a dial on the center console controls the volume and power of the stereo, and most climate controls are physical switches below the display.
This center console is in the air, not attached to the dashboard, and has enough space to store things underneath. It’s also neat and contains only the volume wheel, wireless charger, and cup holders. The existing style has a button-type speed selector. on the console. It’s gone, replaced via a column-mounted electronic shifter that pushes up to the opposite side and down to drive, and a button to park.
The existing Enclave’s engine is a 3. 6L V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. For 2025, on all trims, you get a tougher 2. 5L turbocharged four-cylinder, making 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, and mated this time to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine will also be used in the also updated Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, the Enclave’s siblings, but otherwise, at least for now.
The Enclave will be introduced in front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions in the U. S. In the U. S. , all models in Canada will be all-wheel-drive only.
The maximum towing capacity is still 5000 pounds, giving you the spring you want for a towing package; without that, the Enclave weighs only 1,500 pounds. The Avenir will be popular with a frequently adaptive suspension, which is an option on the 2024 version.
All versions seat up to seven passengers, and the first and second rows are spacious and feel very comfortable. A quick lap on the third row revealed that it’s average for the segment: a not-too-tall adult can have compatibility there. However, you may not need to be that user on a longer commute.
Standard on the Avenir and available on the other two models is a forced-slide system like the second-row captain’s seats, which moves them forward at the touch of a button to access the third row. They tilt forward, but in such a way that if a child seat is installed, it can remain in position (although the child needs to be removed first, of course).
I haven’t had a chance to see the entry-level Preferred, but its features will include heated front seats, active noise cancellation, a panoramic view camera, and a premium audio formula with subwoofer, among other things.
Base filling is a favorite; the ST now has its own edition and is situated in the middle; while the Avenir remains the edition, as is the case with all of Buick’s offerings.
Its power tailgate has a technology called AutoSense: if you pass back with the key, the tailgate will open automatically. The Enclave’s hands-free gate to pass required you to kick underneath, but it didn’t work for everyone, as I can attest, then kicking one of them in vain several times, and the Buick engineers finally agreed that yes, there was a better way. If you don’t need it to open on its own, you can either prevent it before it does or disable the feature entirely via the vehicle’s control panel. Settings.
The ST trim comes exclusively with a black leatherette interior, as well as a flat-bottomed idler, gloss black grille and wheels, and a 12-speaker Bose stereo. The Avenir features real cowhide leather upholstery and adds a 16-speaker system. , a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers and customizable ambient lighting. Standard and available on Preferred and ST models come with massaged, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a head-up display, and a power-folding captain’s seat. chairs and an electrically foldable third row.
Each equipment point will optionally offer the Super Cruise hands-free road driving assistant. It operates on pre-mapped highways, of which there are about 640,000 kilometers lately in the United States and Canada and more are continually being added.
There are also many popular driver-assist safety technologies, including blind-spot following with guidance assist, forward emergency braking, cornering addition, wrong-way braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, child driving controls, and a safety alert seat. that issues a warning if any of those systems have problems. If the car’s security alarm goes off and your phone is connected to the MyBuick app, the bird’s-eye camera will take pictures of everything around you and send them to your phone.
In the future, you will also be able to transmit indoor and outdoor perspectives to your phone at any time. As one Buick representative said, this may prove convenient if you’re not sure you’ve forgotten something in the car, though I guess if it’s your phone you’re looking for, you might be out of luck.
Judging by my vision of this new Enclave, this turns out to be the right way to move the game forward. The exterior is stylish, the interior has a much more upscale look and feel than before, and the features seem to suit what buyers are looking for. to stand out in this niche between luxury and conventional. Of course, the real test will be how you drive, as well as how much it costs; And as soon as we have the steering wheel, we’ll let you know too.
