It’s time to say goodbye to the VW VR6 engine.
On Thursday, the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas debuted with only turbo-4 power, a larger touchscreen and more convenience features.
Volkswagen said the updated 2024 Atlas will go on sale in the third quarter and major price, fuel economy and equipment points will be unveiled closer to launch.

Turbo-4 for everyone
With the VR6 narrow-angle V6 trim, each and every 2024 Atlas will be powered through a new 2. 0-liter turbo-4 with 269 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. This reduces the upgraded Atlas to 7 hp still. increases through 7 lb-ft of torque compared to the outgoing VR6, this engine is not standard. The new turbo-4 develops 34 hp and 15 lb-ft of torque compared to the outgoing turbo-4. Volkswagen of America senior vice president Hein Schafer told Motor Authority that the updated Atlas will be part of a faster 0 to 60 mph moment, with fuel economy of 5% to 10% compared to the existing VR6 and power comparable to today’s less rugged turbo.
An 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are retained, while all-wheel drive remains an option across the range. VW said the Atlas turbo-4 would be designed to tow 5,000 pounds.

Bigger and more feature-rich
Each 2024 Atlas will feature a 10. 3-inch virtual gauge cluster and a 12. 0-inch touchscreen infotainment formula with touch controls for volume and temperature controls. These sliders will be backlit, as with other VW products like the ID. 4.
The internal fabrics have been enhanced with a soft-touch dashboard and the center console trimmed in a leather-like material. The top-trim models will now have a padded leather seating surface with a diamond pattern. A heated guide wheel, cooled front seats, height-adjustable front passenger seat and three-zone automatic climate are now popular across the range. Leather seats and heated seats will be available. or small bag thanks to a wired electronic gear selector and a design similar to the new GTI.

More LED lighting
The exterior of the Atlas was revised with a new four-bar grille and revised adaptive LED headlights are standard. These headlights are framed by LED lights for hours of sunlight, a full-width LED light bar, and illuminated VW badges on everything except the base trim. Both the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport feature integrated rear wings to enlarge the roofline, as well as an illuminated rear bar and the VW logo on all base trim.
The Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models will have wheels from 18 to 20 inches, and the R-Design models will expand to 21 inches.
All Atlases will come popular with active trackArray, but a bow demonstration and adaptive cruiser will only be available on the top models.
