When Dodge released the Challenger Demon in 2018, he promised that his limited series would remain so, meaning that only a small number of other people could buy one. In the years that followed, Dodge unveiled the Challenger Redeye, whose functionality closes, while the new Challenger Super Stock, which debuted on Thursday, is even closer.
Now, if you’re not a drag racing fan or a racing fan in general, you’ll possibly wonder why such a wild car would be called “Super Stock.” The answer lies in the formula of elegance (not the one that impedes social mobility) that is helping to pit race cars from races opposed to others under equivalent conditions. In this case, it’s NHRA Super Stock elegance.
Energized by
The call comes from the National Hot Rod Association’s Super Stock elegance, which tells you what this car is. It doesn’t have the Demon’s engine, but it does have a lot of modifications that set it apart from the Hellcat Redeye on which it is based.
The Super Stock has a total of 807 horsepower (the demon did 33 more), but the force alone is not enough to carry the car at its advertised time of 3.2 seconds from 0 to 60 mph or 10.5 seconds of a quarter-mile race. (The devil did it in 2.3 and 9.65 seconds, respectively.) For you, Super Stock becomes popular with 18-inch light tires, Nitto NT05R radish wheels, the same tires as the Demon. This ultra-sticky rubber has a size of 315 / 40R18 in the 4 corners and is the explanation for why the Super Stock reaches a maximum of just 168 mph (the Durango Hellcat, for reference, will be 180 mph).
Adding tires like Nitto drag radii is smart, but it also means engineers had to adjust the rest of the transmission, adding the eight-speed automatic transmission and 3.09 limited slip rear differential, to gain credit for that. Increased grip The electronically adjusted suspension has a special release mode to help move the weight for optimal shooting. The Super Stock also features Line Lock, which simplifies wear, allowing you to heat those tires before the stage. Also on board is an attractive feature called Power Reserve that pre-reserves the engine intake manifold, allowing for faster response.

The Challenger has never been what anyone would call a soft car and give it more than 800 horsepower, meaning that slowing down at the end of the quarter mile will require a parachute or a very clever set of brakes. SRT will opt for brembo aluminum brake stirrups with four soft weight pistons and 14.2-inch rotors to slow down. Like the Devil, Super Stock also receives the Wideframe pack that also provides the Redeye Challenger. This adds 3 inches to every aspect of the popular Challenger frame and allows you to install those giant 315-width Nittos.
“I swore we’d never build another demon and we won’t,” Tim Kuniskis, Fiat-Chrysler’s North American passenger car manager, said in a statement. “But I also said that each and every One of the Hellcat Challenger and Redeye have a tacit commitment to protecting the logo and the new Challenger SRT Super Stock is designed to do just that.”
Perhaps the part, however, is that Super Stock will not be a limited edition agreement. If you want a powerful 807-horsepower car in your life, order books open this summer.
