While they were mostly seen as competitors, the two corporations began bonding last year when Tesla began buying battery-powered mobile phones from BYD. Tesla is believed to be BYD’s new “leaf battery,” which is an LFP mobile packaged in a long sheet-like format.

BYD sells more BEVs than Tesla in China. I’m pretty sure they also sold more BEVs in China in 2021.
