Tesla introduces battery cells to increase range and power in electric cars

Tesla unveiled new battery cells on Tuesday that will charge strength and strength to the company’s electric vehicles.

CEO Elon Musk said at Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting and battery day in Fremont, California, that the new battery will also lower production prices and allow the company to sell electric cars for around $25,000, the same diversity of value as gasoline cars.

“We are confident that, in the long run, we will be able to design and manufacture an attractive $25,000 electric vehicle,” Musk said. “It’s been a dream since the start of the company. Soon, in about 3 years, we are sure that we will be able to make a very, very convincing electric vehicle of $25,000, which is also completely autonomous ».

The assembly and the occasion of Battery Day were broadcast on the company’s website.

Tesla’s new battery cell, the 4680, will offer six times the strength of Tesla’s previous cells and five times the capacity for strength, said Drew Baglino, Tesla’s executive vice president of engineering and force train strength.

Tesla will produce its new 4680 battery internally at its Fremont battery plant.

“I must emphasize, it is not just a concept or a representation; we’re starting to push the manufacturing of those cells into our 10 gigawatt pilot facility around the corner,” Baglino said on Battery Day, which took a position after the Shareholders’ Meeting.

However, Musk’s new 4680 batteries are “about to work”.

“I think it’s fair to say it probably works, but not with superior performance,” Musk said.

Tesla, a 10,000-acre lithium mine in Nevada to produce the new batteries.

“There’s enough lithium in Nevada to electrify the entire U. S. fleet,” Baglino said.

Tesla also unveiled its $139,000 Model S Plaid, the new best-performing edition of its flagship sedán. The electric car will have more than 520 miles of range, a more responsive speed of two hundred miles per hour and an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
