Tesla’s electric car and solar force company plans to supply an all-in-one power package for the house and car, which would come with controlled charging times for electric cars if it materializes in Germany.
As more and more cars run on electric propulsion systems, barriers between the electrical and automotive industries will become increasingly blurred.
Energy companies like AGL, Origin and Powershop in Australia will already offer less expensive rates to electric vehicle drivers and are considering tactics to inspire drivers to recharge their electric vehicles to help them absorb the increased demand for electric power.
Now we’re starting to see similar movements in the other aspect of the market: automakers need to slide into the energy market (not to mention that oil corporations like Shell are doing something similar).
In a survey of potential German customers, Tesla sought out whether electric car drivers would like Tesla to plan car charging times as a component of the package to take advantage of the less expensive fares.
The survey also asked respondents if they would be interested in buying a Tesla Wall Connector EV charging unit, a Tesla Powerwall, Tesla solar panels and what would convince them to transfer to the power company.
