Teen killed and injured after shooting on basketball court in Fishers

Police are investigating after one teenager was killed and others injured in an outdoor shooting on a Fishers basketball court Thursday night.

Thomas Pearson, 17, of Indianapolis, was killed in the shooting at approximately 9:40 p.m. at Best Choice Fieldhouse, 11825 Technology Dr., according to the Fishermen’s Police Department and the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Another 17-year-old in the hospital. His condition is unknown and described as “stable”.

Police said the shooting took place in the parking lot and two suspects were seen leaving the scene in a soft brown “square” Toyota sedan. They’re still fugitives,” the police said in a press release.

Police described the shooting as a “targeted attack” and said they were running with “police partners to identify the motive and identify the suspects.”

“We need other people to know that this is not a random act and that lately there is no risk to the community,” the press release said.

Mayor Scott Fadness tweeted that Fishers “is not immune to escalating violence in our area.”

“Our Police Department is working diligently to locate those responsible,” Fadness tweeted. “We have 0 tolerance for this type of activity in our city.”
