A local teenager died after wasting his car and crashing into a railing in the area, police said.
The turn of fate occurred in Ulster County at approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, August 3, on Highway 52, near the intersection of the Road Estate in Wawarsing.
According to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony Monzon, 19, a resident of Sullivan County, Liberty, was driving his Honda Accord east on Highway 52 as he left the road and hit the railing.
The vehicle arrived here to rest in its appearance approximately 350 feet from the turn of the destination site in a ditch in the westbound lane. Monsoon pleaded dead at the scene.
The investigation into the accident continues, but speed is believed to have been a factor, the sheriff said.
