The Habs haven’t won since the All-Star break nearly two months ago. . . But when they do, it’s against bad teams.
The Capitals, Ducks, Coyotes, Predators, Blue Jackets and Kraken, let’s face it, are all among the NHL’s elite. Nashville and Washington don’t have a bad team, but otherwise. . .
The Kraken were eliminated by the Habs 5-1, so Trevor Letowski’s men are no longer in fifth place in the NHL in the Tankathon, the best for enthusiasts of a rebuilding team.
Sure, you might think Kent Hughes is a little tired of “winning four-point games” from a lottery perspective, but he still can’t be dissatisfied with what the Habs showed yesterday.
After all, while the Kraken don’t exactly have a Stanley Cup team on their hands, the truth is that the Habs stood out last night like a lion on the ice.
1. Once again, Cayden Primeau achieved his challenge: to keep the Canadians in the game. He wants to improve his consistency (like every young player in NHL history), but when he’s active, he’s active. .
Last night, his 36 saves (no, the Habs weren’t the best against him) kept his team in the game. Honorable mention to an offside trap and to David Savard for the assist.

2. Juraj Slafkovsky scored a point in his seventh straight game. We imagined him scoring in the first, but in the end he didn’t deflect Kaiden Guhle’s shot.
A goal and two assists in the first half for the first pick of 2020. . . Guhle in good shape.
Letowski says the boys miss Martin St-Louis, who is still with his family for an undetermined amount of time after what happened to his son, but he likes the reaction of the players.

Watch Matheson’s graceful skating, speed, and ability to use his hands to score. He may not dominate defense every night, but he’s an excellent offensive defender.

Instead, he had to shoot, and he did it with surgical precision.
I don’t know if Suzuki will finish with a consistent point with the game, however, he is getting close to the 30-goal mark and has 66 goals in 70 games. He’s defensive and happens to be a smart captain.
It’s been a season.

Alex Newhook may not 6. Es having the most incredible season in flannel history, but he still has 24 problems in 43 games. For a guy who had 30 problems in 82 games in Colorado in 2022-2023, that’s progress.
Yesterday his two goals (he has 12 and last year he had 14) gave the Habs a pass.
7. No there is no doubt that the impact of a goalkeeper is important. Yesterday, the Kraken were disappointed by their goalkeeper, as Philipp Grubauer allowed four goals on just six shots.
Joey Daccord stopped 10 of the shots he faced. The Habs were outshot 37-17. . .
The Canadian’s adventure comes to an end. The team will practice in Seattle at 2 p. m. m. (Quebec City time) before heading to Denver for the final game of the trip.
