Six suspects were arrested Monday after they were discovered loading boxes of several million illicit cigarettes into a truck in Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg, police said.
Police spokesman Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said SA’s for-profit branch and police had acted on the database and arrested suspects in flagrant crime at a commercial in Eldorado Park.
Peters stated that the initial reports reported that the crime scene was being used as a nodal distribution point where alleged investors would gather the illicit shipment for the next distribution and sale.
She said the option of additional arrests could simply be ruled out.
