Susie’s Cool Beans Nursery in DeBary Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident

A Eustis woman who owned a daycare center in DeBary where a Halloween pumpkin died in a hit-and-run accident said Monday her circle of relatives.

Susanne Trimble, 59, of Eustis, was killed in a head-on collision on State Road and Wekiva Pines Boulevard in Lake County at 6:10 p. m. On Thursday, Florida Highway Patrol investigators confirmed.

Trimble owned Susie’s Cool Beans nursery at 655 S. Charles Richard Beall Blvd. in DeBary, where he had installed one of the pumpkins for Halloween.

“He enjoyed plants,” Trimble’s son, Michael Burgner, said Monday, “he’s been able to take plants and wildlife like no one else would see them and remodel them. “

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said Trimble was heading west toward a designated structure domain on State Road 46, when some other vehicle also heading west crossed the double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lanes as it sought to overtake several vehicles.

The motive force of an eastbound vehicle, a 22-year-old boy from Orlando, swerved right toward the oncoming vehicle, but then swerved, entered the westbound lane and crashed head-on into Trimble’s vehicle, the FHP lt. said. Kim Montes.

The vehicle trying to overtake other cars also hit the look of Trimble’s sedan before fleeing. Trimble died at the scene of the crash, Montes said.

The 19-year-old passenger in the car drove through the Orlando guy who collided head-on with Trimble’s vehicle and was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, where he later died, Montes said.

Orlando’s motive force was seriously injured and also taken to the hospital, infantrymen said.

The infantrymen are still there for the last vehicle that fled and was driven through a man. It has been described as a red passenger car, in all likelihood a Hyundai S. The vehicle left the scene with a broken appearance and moving black paint. Montes said.

Customers who arrived at the daycare Monday were shocked to learn of Trimble’s death, Burgner said.

Trimble enjoyed his pumpkin and enjoyed interacting with other people who came to the daycare to take pictures, his son said.

“He had a knack for business, no matter what he chose to do,” Burgner said.

Burgner said he learned of his mother two hours before the fatal crash.

“She sent me a picture of a water bottle,” Burgner said as he collapsed. “She had set her eyes wide open to make him look like a bird. “
