Sherwoods Motor Group has earned the accreditation point for its painting workshop in Washington through the British Standards Institution (BSI).

BSI 10125 accreditation is only granted to repairers with the technical skills, control systems and procedures to operate according to standards.

Sherwoods founded as a family business circle in the 1920s and last year acquired Springfield Motor Group, incorporating the Peugeot, Citroen and Suzuki franchises in Gateshead, as well as the acquisition of Durham Peugeot.

The agreement also included the acquisition of a used car mechanics, bodywork and workshop workshop in Washington.

Sherwoods has invested approximately 70,000 euros in two new eco-friendly Dalby paint booths, as well as installing LEDs in 30,000 square feet of area and expanding capacity levels.

Frame manager Marc Madden, who worked for Springfield for nearly 20 years prior to the takeover, said: “Receiving the BSI 10125 is the highest popularity imaginable for a frame shop and a requirement of major insurance companies.

“This is a true testament to Sherwoods’ investment in gadgets and training, which has taken the company to a new level.

“New paint booths and lighting have dramatically increased our power and reduced our carbon footprint, which is vital in those difficult times. Because new kiosks expand our capacity, we are actively looking for a new offering of tasks.

The reputation established for the quality of the picture shop has also allowed Sherwoods to maintain the turn of destination and arrange the control contract for five Vertu Honda dealerships in Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Stockton and Morpeth.

BSI 10125 accreditation is now expected to result in higher turnover and more on-site jobs.

Simon MacConachie, CEO of Sherwoods, said: “Despite these difficult and dubious times, our strategy has been to continue investing in the long run and what was already a reputable company.

“Kitemark’s endorsement confirms the point marc and his team stick to, and I’m proud to see them get the popularity they deserve. “
