Subaru has announced that it will lease its 2023 Solterra Premium for 0 down payment, $241 per month for 36 months, plus taxes and ongoing commitments.
That’s $158 of the $399 per monthly deal Subaru has been offering on the 2023 Solterra since last year, making it one of the cheapest passenger cars to lease.
The Solterra is an all-wheel-drive electric crossover with seating for five people and a cargo volume of 23. 8 cubic feet in its rear seats. It has a 228-mile ride, goes from a standstill to 60 mph in 6. 5 seconds, and has 8. 3 inches of floor. It’s built on Toyota’s global e-TGNA battery electric vehicle platform, which it lately shares with the Toyota bZ4x and Lexus RZ.
Availability of the 2023 style (MSRP $46,220) in Premium version is very low and, in our observation, represents less than 2% of Solterra’s inventory.
The 2024 model is much more available and comes with some new features, such as hands-free driving under 25 mph and faster DC fast charging. With an average monthly lease charge of $329 per month, the 2024 Solterra Premium (MSRP: $46,340) still offers a plentiful price compared to other EVs with similar lease terms.
If you decide to waste your money on a Solterra, you shouldn’t expect it to do something similar to Subaru’s, like travel down the road. They are usually unable to reach a power higher than 20-30 kW in the DCFC infrastructure. If you’re looking to take a road trip, spend plenty of time in Walmart parking lots.
For a traveler, it’s probably not bad, but it’s also too big for the task.
