Canadian Lance Stroll has signed a new deal with Aston Martin, the Briton announced on Thursday.

Stroll, 25, joined Racing Point in 2019 when he bought them through his father Lawrence, who two years later changed the name Aston Martin.

He will continue to race alongside Fernando Alonso, 42, after the two-time world champion extended his contract with Aston Martin until 2026.

“I am very committed to staying with the team through 2025 and beyond,” Stroll said in a team statement.

“It’s amazing how far we’ve come in the last five years; We have grown a lot as a team and there is still a lot to look to the future,” he added.

Stroll took the last of his three podiums in 2020 and sits a place in the drivers’ standings this season.

Aston Martin is fifth in the constructors’ championship this season, 93 times Mercedes, fourth after 10 of the campaign’s 24 races.

The Grand Prix will take place on Sunday in Austria.
