Stranded trucks on Gyalpoizhing-Nganglam road

More than 20 trucks were stranded at the Kuri-Gongri Bridge point after many road problems were swept away more than a week ago.

Basically, they ship essential products and are destination Mongar, Gyalpoizhing and Trashigang.

Some truckers took the chosen direction through Pemagatshel on July 17, while some left the trucks and moved the merchandise to reach Mongar.

Some cars are also waiting in Yangbari, about 18 km from the block and some have selected in Nganglam.

Truckers manage with the staple foods they ship from the structure site.

The truckers said they survived with two foods a day. “Our food inventory is now depleted and we are looking to get out of this position as soon as possible.”

A truck driver, Kinzang Tenzin, said the department stores were far away and seeking help from those at the site of the nearby structure.

Three trucks loaded with groceries, beer and Coca Cola from one of the major grocery outlets in the city of Mongar are trapped in the neighborhood. The shop owner, Pema Zangmo, fears that her shop will not be available.

“Some pieces like Dalda and juices are already sold out.”

She said she never thought the block would last that long and moving goods in the other direction would increase the cost.

“I’m in a now, ” he said.

Truckers accuse the Department of Roads (DoR) of running long enough.

“So far only a small tire loader has been deployed. In most cases, the driving force arrives after 10 a.m. from Yongri, near Gyalpoizhing and departs from 15 p.m. to 3.30pm. If that’s how cleaning paints are made, I don’t think it’ll be over soon,” said a truck driver.

“There were two excavators on the other side of the doR bridge, Nganglam. Because they are under the same department, they may have used them as an option and completed the task more quickly,” he said.

One contractor, Karma Wangchuk, whose structure of the wall was affected, said all the truckers were suffering and shared his ration of painters. He added that his paintings of structures had been hampered because he was unable to send materials. He’s afraid he won’t meet the deadline.

Meanwhile, Lingmethang DOR deployed an excavator in the most sensitive tire loader, which arrived at the site on the afternoon of July 17.

Lingmethang DoR’s lead engineer, Karma Rinzin, said there were 10 to 11 blocks on the road and that only one tire loader was deployed after the emergency loader failed. “He wiped the little blocks.”

He said that by the time the giant block in the waterfall collapsed, it would take 3 to four hours to clear. The largest is located 3 hundred m before the waterfall to the point of the bridge where the base of the road of 50 m was carried.

“We want to make a cut and we hope to complete the reconstruction paintings within 4 to five days to open the highway to traffic,” he said.
