Stellantis, the parent company of several car brands including Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler, announced Friday that it will lay off many more employees in the U. S. The U. S. economy is expanding as it continues to reduce its share of its transition to electric vehicle production.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the automaker on Friday morning asked several employees in the software, engineering and generation industries to work from home and then held meetings in which they were informed that they were wasting their jobs.
About 400 more people were laid off in the latest wave of layoffs, the Journal reported, citing internal Stellantis documents seen in the newspaper.
The automaker showed the layoffs when contacted via FOX Business for comment.

“After rigorous organizational reviews, Stellantis confirms that we will reduce our engineering/technology and software businesses by approximately 2% in the U. S. “We are not going to be able to do anything about the U. S. ,” the company said. These discounts will go into effect on March 31, 2024. Stellantis will offer assistance to those affected, adding a comprehensive separation program and transition assistance. “

The company added, “While we understand this to be challenging news, those moves will better align resources while preserving the critical competencies needed for our competitive merit while remaining focused on implementing our electric product offensive and Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. “

The company has carried out several rounds of layoffs over the past year and submitted voluntary takeovers to more than a portion of its 12,700 U. S. workers last year, in a bid to slash prices while focusing on electric vehicles and taking on the higher costs of its new contract. with the United Auto Workers union.
