Ssangyong Motors UK has added distributors in Shrewsbury and Wirral new relationships with the award-winning Hawkins Motor Group and BVH Car Sales Limited store.
Hawkins Motors’ new location on High Street, Wem, Shresbury and BVH’s Hind Street site, Birkenhead, the third and fourth addition of the Korean brand in 2020, after Parkhills Car Center in Bury and Fine Cars, Gosport.
The St Austell Peugeot deal from the Peugeot franchisee, Citroen, Kia, Hyundai and Mitsubishi Hawkins was hailed as the best performing dealership in the UK for the French car logo at the previous Guild of Gold Lion awards this year and Kevin Griffin, managing director of SsangYong Motors UK, said he was “delighted” with his appointment.
Griffin, who took over as ceo of the logo in June this year, said, “We are excited to welcome Hawkins Motors to our ever-expanding network of runners. I am convinced that with Hawkins’ prestigious experience, we can do wonderful things through the partnership and look forward to running with them.
In addition to its new and used car, Hawkins Motors, based at Array St Austell, also operates a flexible car rental with a fleet of more than 80 vehicles.
Commenting on the addition of a Ssangyong franchise to the group’s portfolio, John Hancocks, a senior running back to Hawkins Motors, said: “We are very happy to work with SsangYong Motors UK, we look forward to expanding the franchise and expanding sales. In our region.
“The COVID-19 epidemic has had a slow start, our doors are now firmly open.”
The used car store BVH is reputed to offer a fair point of visitor service, according to Ssangyong, and Griffin said that “trust that with the right degrees of service the dealership provides to its consumers and the cash price of SsangYong, you can look forward to wonderful things.”
Richard Houghton, MANAGING Director of SsangYong Wirral, said: “We are very happy to work with SsangYong Motors UK and look forward to selling the franchise and its Merseyside products.”
“The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a slower start than we would have liked, but our doors are open and we look forward to seeing our new and existing customers.”
According to the new knowledge of automobile registration from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Sangyong’s UK sales fell by 28.2% from the beginning of the year to the end of July, with 841 cars locating new owners (2019: 1,171).
News of the re-appointment of the Ssangyong franchise network comes less than a week after Ssangyong Motor UK, operated through importer Bassadone Automotive, announced his move to a new head office.
Griffin said the measurement occurs when the Korean logo embarks on the “next development,” adding its investment in natural electric cars (EVs).
“We can also get our domestic portion delivery service up and running to our franchised dealers from the same site and be closer to our import center at Royal Portbury Docks in Bristol, which is a great deal of attention for us,” Griffin added.
Last year it was described through Ssangong Motor UK as an era of “spectacular transformation” for its retail network.
He added 10 new broker partners in the first part of the year.
Speaking at the time, former CEO Nick Laird said: “This logo has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past year with the implementation of a new expansion strategy, the advent of new and more exciting products and, with the expected long-term development, We have in mind, the expansion of our network of brokers is of paramount importance to our customers. Fix if they are existing or potential.
“Right now, some of our prospects, other people genuinely interested in our logo and products, tell us that their nearest store is too far from them, and more than not, it is.
“Our about how to fill out unfinished business will help us and our dealers raise SsangYong’s profile, give shoppers more confidence in the logo, and sell more cars.”
