Perhaps the least kept secret of mountain biking, after months of hashtags and taunts, Specialized, however, has launched the 2021 Mountain Bike Status.

Designed to maximize the thrill of jumps and falls, the new Status comes with 160mm travel, a 29-inch mule configuration at the front and 27.5 inches at the rear, and some progressive geometric numbers.

The new Status is built with Specialized’s durable yet affordable M5 alloy and uses an FSR suspension formula similar to Stumpjumper diversity to force the 160 mm travel. Based on a pair of mullet wheels, the 29-inch front wheel will offer greater rolling characteristics, while the 27.5-inch rear wheel helps keep the bases short for greater agility on technical terrain. The Status uses a popular threaded pedal box for less difficult home maintenance, sealed cartridge bearing pivots and 12×148 mm legs.
The geometry is radical and has a head angle of 63.2 degrees, a pedal box drop of 17.5 mm, a diversity of 462 mm and bases of 426 mm in the average length S3. While the ability to climb is unlikely to be on the precedence list, the Status has a 76-degree seat angle to help you get in a smart position to get back on the more sensitive path, well-assisted through the 10-50 cassette on offer. The motorcycle also has a height geometry position, lifting the pedal case and slightly expanding the angle of the head.

Specialized offers the Status in its full length S1-S5 and will be available to purchase in stores today. The Status will be available in two other colours, satin brown or satin charcoal, and will charge only 2399 euros.
