Skoda Auto India, which entered the market used with wednesday launch of its “Certified Used” program, aims to sell 10,000 used games, which would account for approximately 20% of its total sales, up to 2022.
The program is an integral part of the Czech manufacturer’s preparation for the India 2. 0 project, Zac Hollis, logo manager at Skoda Auto India, told BusinessLine.
The allocation of Skoda 2. 0 with the Volkswagen Group was announced two years ago, with an expected investment of Rs 8 billion for the group’s operations in India.
“The first consumers we will attract to our India 2. 0 cars by the middle of next year will be our existing consumers. That’s why it’s very vital that we can offer our current consumers smart commercial prices compared to those cars. we implemented it before India 2. 0 to make it well incorporated and a key component of dealer activity,” Hollis said.
Skoda Auto cars purchased under the “Used Certified” program will be delivered with a manufacturer’s warranty covering 24 months or 150,000 km (according to the first eventuality).
The program will also cover cars of other brands and can be purchased with a 12-month or 15,000 km warranty. Customers can also industrialize their old cars, which would possibly or may not be Skoda, and be rewarded with bonuses within the industry for purchasing a new Skoda vehicle.
The used car program will also be available on the virtual platform and supports a set of live queries and a demo option for contactless virtual products, the company said.
As a result of the pandemic, there has been a shift towards non-public mobility, Hollis said, and the past on shared mobility and public transport was replaced by protection concerns.
“The importance of protection has led to demand for non-public transport. Not everyone can buy a new car worth, say, between 7 and 10 lakh, which has led to increased demand for used cars. It’s vital that we’re part of the used car market,” he said.
It would also be a significant benefit for brokers, Hollis said. “If we prepare a car correctly, there is no explanation as to why we can’t get a net margin of 4 to 5% on a used car, which is vital to the racer’s profitability,” he said.
Used cars under this program will be available at dealerships in nine cities: Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Hyderabad and Goa. The program will also be available in five other cities starting in November. 1 – Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Karnal. By 2021, the program would be implemented at all Skoda Auto India dealerships, Hollis said.
