Skoda has developed a new generation that says will make life less difficult for car mechanics, or possibly make them absolutely redundant.

The Czech logo, which belongs to the VW organization, says it has effectively ended up in a smartphone app capable of hearing the bumps, stripes or curses produced through a vehicle and diagnosing the challenge only with sound.

Called Skoda Sound Analyzer, the manufacturer claims to have a 90% good fortune rate to identify car disruptions.

Smartphone app for auto mechanics: Skoda has developed an app that listens to the noise of a car engine to identify if it presents an underlying challenge that you want to be solved by a technician.

Skoda developed the formula internally to be used through technicians in its franchise departments to temporarily stumble if paints need to be repaired.

“The formula is so delicate that it can recognize even the slightest irregularity in engine sound and would possibly recommend a variety of service measures needed,” the automaker said.

To use the technology, mechanics will only have to record the sound of the engine through the microphone of a smartphone.

It then records the noise produced through the engine and compares it to the stored sound models.

If you identify that there is a difference with the roar of a healthy engine, the application uses a set of rules to determine what might be causing the discrepancy and how the challenge can be resolved.

Skoda says the software has already been developed to recognize ten models, locating the right challenge nine out of ten times.

The application works through audio logging on a spectrogram that visually represents acoustic signals.

Using synthetic intelligence, this representation is then to the stored records to identify discrepancies.

The application then classifies the possible desire for long-term maintenance or repair into predetermined models.
