Booking.com fired a quarter of his, more than 4,000 more people, with the global pandemic of new suffocating coronavirus trips.
Layoffs will begin next month and continue until the end of the year, according to parent company Booking Holdings Inc.
Booking Holdings, based in Norwalk, Connecticut, also owns the OpenTable restaurant reservation and Priceline.com.
The number of rooms booked in Booking.com in the first quarter of this year fell 43% to 124 million.
The company warned investors in May to prepare for the worst at the time of the monetary quarter, with the effects expected thursday.
Zimmer’s quarterly loss at $207 million
Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. reported Tuesday a quarterly loss of $207 million, or $1 consistent with an unusual diluted shareholding, in net sales of $1.23 billion. Loss of profit of $134 million for last year’s quarter.
Bryan Hanson, president and chief executive, said the COVID-19 pandemic is the cause of the loss. The impact, he said in a statement, “remains significant and remains very fluid.”
Zimmer Biomet’s hips, knees and other synthetic products are mainly implanted with elective surgeries. The biggest drop in those procedures occurred in April, the company said, and gradually took a step forward in May and June.
Group tutoring program
The Northeast Indiana Regional Association has formed a new partnership for a mentoring program created through the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the organization is to create the largest and most effective mentoring initiative between businesses in the country.
The Engage Mentoring program will advance regional business investment initiatives by helping employers attract, retain and develop their workforce by connecting individuals with mentors to help them develop skills, officials said Monday.

Amazon to buy a food delivery man
The UK festival’s supervisory body approved Amazon’s plan to buy a stake in food delivery company Deliveroo, saying the deal would damage the festival.
The Competition and Markets Authority had already given conditional approval to the proposal, which will cause Amazon to have a 16% stake in the platform.
But the resolution came here with the warning that the authority would rethink whether Amazon, which has a dominant presence in online sales, sought to increase its share.
Honda issues recall of 1.6 million autos
Honda is removing more than 1.6 million minivans and SUVs from the market in the United States to solve disorders such as faulty rear view camera displays, faulty dashboard lighting fixtures, and sliding doors that don’t close properly.
The disorders were revealed in 4 issued by the government.
They have some Odyssey minivans from 2018 to 2020, pilot SUV from 2019 to 2021 and Passport SUV from 2019 and 2020.
