If you’re a regular viewer of The White Lotus, or even a casual social media reader, you’ve probably only heard of the show’s current season finale since it aired on Sunday. Lucia (Simona Tabasco) and Mia (Beatrice Grannò), the aspiring modern city dwellers (and informal sex workers) who are very much alive, and, in Lucia’s case, loaded with bloodless cash at the end of the season. Navigating wasn’t simple for the duo, especially Lucia, but there was something deeply gratifying about seeing two young women not completely destroyed through the twists and turns of the show’s plot.

On Tuesday, Vogue spoke to Tabasco about watching Lucia and Mia walk away at sunset like the reigning queens of Taormina, their mind on Lucia’s iconic wardrobe and their vote on where she should take position next season of The White Lotus (there’s no word yet on whether Lucia will). make an appearance). Read the full interview below.

Vogue: First of all, are you based?

Simona Tabasco: I’ve been living in Rome for 10 years, but I’m from Naples!

What do you think of the White Lotus final?

It was amazing. I feel like I’m living a special moment. Now that the latest is being streamed, I’ve gained a lot of messages of love and awareness on Instagram, especially from other people in the US. Which is wonderful because here in Italy other people do. Don’t look so much. [Laughter. ]

Have you had many comments about Lucia’s triumphant exit?

It’s the most productive way to end The White Lotus. Lucia may not lose! Surely he can’t lose the White Lotus match.

How do you think Lucia would have spent the $50,000 she ended up walking away with?

I don’t know, but I hope he achieves all his dreams. I hope he bought his store, maybe fired the store clerk, no, I’m kidding, and he did what he had wanted to do all along.

What’s it like to dress in all the crazy and profoundly perfect outfits of Lucia White Lotus?

When we built the character with Mike [White, the author of The White Lotus] and costume designer Alex Bovaird, we actually wanted to show the progress Lucia and Mia were making. They started in a safe way, but they replace a lot; They get cash and some freedom to spend it, and their outfits and looks stick to the arc of the season’s characters. One of my favorite things Lucia wore was this soft lilac evening dress from a designer from London. Unfortunately, I don’t. Don’t forget its name, but it was one of my favorite looks on screen.

What’s next for you, once you’ve recovered a bit from The White Lotus and the task you’re filming lately in Italy?

I don’t know! In fact, I would like to be part of a foreign project, partly because I need to improve my English. Italian is a lovely language to speak and use, but it is also very articulate. Playing and speaking in English is a lot of fun and fast, and it’s something I really need to do more. I have spent most of my time working, auditioning, or reading English, but I need to spend more time reading. I love books about new art and I love going to the movies. I love all kinds of cinema; I don’t have a genre of components I’m looking for.

Do you have a dream position to shoot?

Well, I’ve traveled a lot, and it’s one of the most productive trips I’ve ever taken to Japan, so I’d be incredibly grateful for the paintings on a task there.

Finally, if you could set the next season of The White Lotus anywhere, where would you choose?

I think I would decide on the UK because I think the English sense of humour would fit well with Mike White’s humour. It would be fun to see how it develops.

In spite of everything it happens to me that I can be single forever.
