With just 400 examples made, the Ferrari Enzo has fetched the highest costs at auction, largely thanks to its club in the “Ferrari Big Five,” along with the equally desirable 288 GTOs, F40s, F50s and LaFerraris.
The V12 supercar, which arrived in 2002 with a retail value of $659,000, has gained popularity in recent years and is now worth between $3 million and $4 million, according to Classic. com.
Most recently, a rare black specimen was auctioned in February for $4. 4 million, setting a new benchmark for the Enzo.
However, this may be a short-lived record. Another Enzo Ferrari has been released, also through RM Sotheby’s auction house, but this example is one of nine silver examples at the Argento Nürburgring. And of the nine, it’s believed to be the only one with a beige “cuoio” leather interior.
As if that wasn’t enough, this Enzo has never been driven. It has only 141 miles on the odometer, is not registered on the road and even still carries some of the protective coating implemented at the Ferrari factory twenty years ago. This plastic packaging covers door sills and pedals, and even duct tape around the key.
Originally sold to a Japanese customer, the car is described as the last known Ferrari Enzo “in its packaging” and “remained largely out of sight for much of its life,” says RM Sotheby’s. As you’d expect, the car comes with its original user manuals, holster, spare key (still in a ziplock bag) and a set of 3 equipped suitcases, also packed in their original packaging.
RM Sotheby’s concludes: “Given its remarkable condition, which still retains much of its protective factory packaging, this example from Argento Nürburgring is the prize for creditors who appreciate rarity and originality. “
The car is presented without reservations, although the auction house uses the sealed auction system, in which interested parties are invited to submit a personal bid between March 15 and 17.
