Sherborn police are setting up patrol cars after two men crashed and tried to borrow a car early in the morning.

SHERBORN — Police are in favor of two men who they say tried to kidnap someone this morning after they ran over a stolen luxury sports car.

The 5:53 a. m incident occurred on North Main Street (Highway 27) and resulted in the closure of Pine Hill Elementary School for the day and status quo of shelters on site at Natick High School and Memorial Elementary School in Natick.

Shelters at the site have since been canceled, Natick High’s pre-game pickup for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving slope with Framingham High School has been canceled.

“So far, no one has been arrested,” Sherborn police leader Thomas Galvin said. “The search has been cancelled. “

The crash happened at 5:53 a. m. Galvin said the suspects smashed a stolen Alfa Romeo against an electric pole. The car was stolen early Tuesday in Sudbury.

“The occupants of the vehicle got out of the vehicle and tried to hijack the cars that had stopped because of the accident,” said Galvin, a former Wayland police officer who recently served as sherborn chief.

One of the men had a handgun at the time of the incident, according to police, but as they failed to convince them to hand over a vehicle, they fled and witnesses may not provide an accurate description of the suspects.

“Unfortunately, once it’s a gun, it’s very difficult to get a description,” Galvin said.

Several officials from nearby communities joined the search, as well as the Massachusetts State Police and the state Environmental Police. Ashland Police and State Police sent dogs to assist in the search.

It’s unclear if the suspects are linked to a number of car injuries in surrounding communities, however, police have uncovered evidence of such activity when it comes to the Alfa Romeo, Galvin said.

“From what we saw in the vehicle, it seems they were worried about car breakdowns,” he said. “We have uncovered evidence that led us to possibly having several car breaks in the city last night. “

Although the search has been canceled, Galvin said there will be more state police patrols in the city and that the investigation will continue.
