Shanghai Maqiao International Half Marathon Begins

The 2024 Shanghai Maqiao International Half Marathon kicked off on Sunday at the Qizhong Tennis Center in Maqiao City, Minhang District, and attracted 4,000 domestic runners.

The festival included a marathon portion and a healthy run, with approximately 66% of runners in the marathon portion. Runners between the ages of 30 and 59 accounted for 77% of the total participants.

Competitor Zhang Ligang won the men’s partial marathon championship with a time of 1 hour 10 minutes 37 seconds, while competitor Qin Yingying won the women’s championship with a time of 1 hour 20 minutes 50 seconds.

The Shanghai Maqiao International Half Marathon, organized especially for runners who love running, has been held for seven years and is constantly improving its protection and offer.

Three trucks with fog cannons were set up at the site for the runners to cool off. Seven ambulances, nine medical first aid stations and 35 AEDs were positioned along the track, in addition to professional volunteers and medical personnel.

As an exemplary national grassroots sports organization and demonstration base for the domestic sports industry, Maqiao City takes full advantage of the spreading effect of two major foreign events – the Rolex Shanghai Masters and the Buick LPGA Shanghai – and hosts more than forty-five national fitness events, such as tennis, running, and cycling every year.
