It’s a great day for startup Nikola. The electric mobile fuel truck and semi-trailer company officially opened Thursday at its long-term plant in Coolidge, Arizona.
In large part, the ceremonial test begins a large-structure task to bring a million-square-foot facility to life over the next 3 years. Nikola said the first phase of the structure will be completed until the end of 2021. The final structure of phase two will be completed within 12 to 18 months.
The facility will produce 35,000 semi-trailers consistent with the year and take the Nikola Two and Tre to the North American and European roads. The Two is a mobile and electric fuel cab semiconductor, while the Tre focuses more on European desires in cabover style. Nikola also announced his goal of starting production of the Tre in Germany through a partnership with Italian truck manufacturer Iveco. Production will be transferred to the Arizona plant.
Nikola began gaining momentum last September after CNH Industrial announced a $250 million investment in the company. Although CNH is not a surname, it operates Iveco and FPT Industrial. Both are great players in the advertising vehicle and power train markets. CNH will not only provide its powertrain to Nikola, but the company has also granted the startup access to its sales and services network in Europe.
A handful of corporations have already raised their hands to order orders for Nikola’s semi-finals. In particular, the brewer Budweiser Anheuser-Busch 800. The company already made a beer delivery last year with Nikola Two at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
