Several bikes were stolen from a network cycling center at Knowsley in an act described by the head of the local council as “hateful.”

Thieves stormed the centre of Court Hey Park in the early hours of Sunday morning before leaving with several bicycles.

The center is home to Barry’s Mobile Maintenance from the local company for a long time, as well as two networked cycling organizations: Merseycycle and Pedal Away.

It also houses Pedal Away’s Bike and Boots project, which transports others who need to locate a task through the Job Center.

Cllr Graham Morgan, head of the Knowsley Council, said he “dismayed by this heinous act.”

He said: “Not only has a committed and long-standing Knowsley business been affected, but these self-centered thieves have fled the community.

“This pointless act has had an effect on many lives, from communities that ran out of this important resource to volunteers who devote their time and power to those projects.

“We urge our network to share all the data they have with the police so that we can see those returned motorcycles and the thieves to be brought to justice.”

This is not the first time criminals have attacked network organizations in Court Hey Park. Last year, Incredible Edible Knowsley’s gardening task focused on vanes that even set fire to a component of the site.

This incident led the council to install video surveillance on it to further deter vandalism.

Merseyside police now opened an investigation into Sunday’s robbery and suggested that data be submitted.

Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: “We may know that an investigation is underway after a break-in in the early hours of Sunday, August 9.

“We worked strongly with our investigation and forensic groups and the CCTV Control Room of Knowsley Council to investigate. I inspire with data on this crime to report it to merseyside Police or the unnamed charity CrimeStoppers.

“We are willing to listen to all the other people who saw the cars come to Court Hey Park the night.”

Knowsley citizens are also asked to do so when buying motorcycles online and to keep an eye out for 3 particular types of motorcycles that were taken in the center of Court Hey Park.

These come with black and green Scott Aspect mountain bikes, red Apollo Transition hybrid motorcycles for men and blue Apollo Elyse hybrid motorcycles.
