Finishing well below the order with 17th in Race 1 and out of 12th in the Superpole Race, Redding stepped up in the final Race 2 for the entire duration to cross the finish line in 11th place and earn only his second point of the year. in six starts.
His luck contrasted sharply with that of fellow BMW drivers Toprak Razgatlioglu and Michael van der Mark on the factory ROKiT M 1000 RRs, with both achieving one pole position, two wins and a top-six finish between them.
“The Superpole race was pretty smart for me,” Redding said. “I felt pretty smart and managed to gain some confidence for the second race. At the time, I was motivated to finish in the top ten. That was my goal.
“I started from the beginning, I finished with Dominique Aegerter, so I lost some positions. Then at the third corner, Iker Lecouna took me off the track, so I lost a few more positions and then we settled in; The organization is looking to save the tires.
“Then there was a big crash in the first corner. I’m glad they both did well. There was a hole that I had to check to close and I used my tyres more. “

“In the end I finished 11th; the most sensible ten there. So I’m happy, because Barcelona is one of the worst circuits on the calendar for me and I came out of here with confidence, it’s the first time in 3 years that this has happened, so I’m looking for the next round.
