It’s a little now to think that the SUV Skoda once offered consisted of a bachelor style: the Yeti.
While the Yeti is original and individual, the direction that traveled through Skoda since then is very close to the Volkswagen organization in the broadest sense – a circle of SUV relatives emerging of other shapes and sizes.
The Kamiq is Skoda’s third SUV and joins karoq and Kodiaq.
It’s the smallest of the three, but it still has a lot to offer and it’s a small car with great ambitions.
Compact SUVs have many advantages. They are small cars that are not at all so small.
While something like the Kamiq may simply be an SUV edition of the Fabia, it manages to be much more than a supermini.
For starters, the extra height of the frame gives it a type of SUV that delights – it’s valuable to point out with the Kamiq, it’s modest rather than marked – and the taste means you get a lot more space.
So, it’s on par with a decent-sized circle of familiar sedán.
In terms of style, the Kamiq is as avant-garde as some of its competitors, especially the Nissan Juke, but has enough to make it attractive.
Skoda’s taste may be a little serious, but I think his SUVs have credit for the brand’s more traditional models.
There are small keys that also distinguish it, such as dynamic signs that are a staple of Audis in those days, are those that have the sequential LED that illuminates from inside the car to the outside.
Inside, the Kamiq is spacious and feels like a car.
During my time at the wheel, I used it to send a student with a value of non-public effects a year and was surprised by the number of people with downed back seats.
It has a 400-litre trunk with the rear seats in position that extends to 1,395 liters.
The fully loaded Kamiq’s functionality is even more impressive.
There are two 1. 0-liter TSI petrol engines.
This is the 94 hp low-strength edition; there is also a 113 hp option.
The tougher style is faster and comes with a six-speed manual gearbox from a five-speed gearbox, however, the most modest edition felt up to the task, even on the road with the full load mentioned above.
If you want or want more power, the 1. 0-liter 113bph will actually provide it, but there are also other tougher features: a 1. 5-liter 148-horsepower (1. 5 TSI 150) and a 1. 6 TDI 115 diesel.
Given its compact length and total length, the Kamiq feels smart to drive, it will have to be said.
You get some of those SUVs seamlessly like pitches and turns on high-speed curves. The driving quality is also very good.
The Kamiq has many rivals, two Volkswagen Group cars with which it stores its foundations, the VW T-Cross and the Seat Arona.
A merit it has, as with any Skoda, comes from Simply Clever features.
These are such sophisticated but useful features for the customer, such as the coverage of the door edge, which automatically unfolds when opening the doors, as well as an umbrella and a flashlight in the trunk.
Customers can choose from 3 degrees of finish: S, SE and SE L, and all will offer alloy wheels, a touch screen and LED lights.
The degrees of the device are generous, even with the input level S, where you get a 6. 5-inch touchscreen information and entertainment system.
The SE comes with a larger 8. 0-inch touchscreen and a 9. 2-inch touchscreen on the SE L.
All have Bluetooth and a DAB radio, with the reflection of Apple Carplay and Android Auto smartphones in 8. 0 inches and more.
This car had an optional Amundsen GPS, which would charge you 1230 euros more. Otherwise, the high-end 9. 2-inch formula comes with built-in satellite navigation.
