Happy halloween! The trick-or-treat prognosis tonight is not scary at all. And with the exception of some early morning showers, we deserve to expect a fairly dry and sunny week. (Good weather to notice those 3 scary sites in Massachusetts, if you dare. )
Some news from sautomobiley if you’re a perpetual car inspection procrastinator: RMV brings a small but radical rule to prevent citizens from escaping a single month (or more) before getting their annual inspection. Starting tomorrow, car inspection stickers will be installed. in the month in which its last label expired, than in the month in which it received the actual inspection.
Warning: Tomorrow marks the beginning of Governor Charlie Baker’s distribution of approximately $3 billion in refunds to taxpayers due to the State Income Cap Act of 1986. WBUR’s Garo Hagopian reports that state officials now say taxpayers will recover about 14% of what they paid in the source state of income tax via check or direct deposit.

MBTA groups concluded the last major Green Line closure of 2022 over the weekend (ahead of schedule, in fact). But expect fuller branch closures in 2023 and beyond. Officials cautioned that there is still “significant work” to be done in the coming years to fully upgrade the service.
P. S. : This is the last week of in-person early voting before next Tuesday’s election. We’re also getting to the point where you may need to deliver your survey by mail. That said, mailboxes in Boston and a few other communities are closed today due to Halloween. (You can take your survey to early voting sites. )
